Mission and Benefits
The 1394 Trade Association actively promotes the proliferation
of the IEEE 1394 Serial Bus standard technology into the
computer, consumer, peripheral, and industrial markets to
enable a truly interoperable, standardized, universal I/O
and back plane interconnect.
Activities
The 1394 TA provides the members the *opportunity* to achieve
this mission. We organize and hold the 1394 TA meetings,
Developer's Conferences, Tradeshows and related seminars
as a means by which the members can work together on the
use of IEEE 1394 to expand all target markets.
Members of the 1394 Trade Association
The 1394 Trade Association is comprised of more than 170
member companies. The membership consists of a number of
companies of every size in almost every sector of the electronics
industry. Some of the best-known names in the 1394 TA membership
are Sony, Intel, Microsoft, Texas Instruments, Philips,
Apple, Yamaha, IBM, Matsushita, Compaq, NEC, Samsung and
Molex, among other electronics leaders.
Organization of the 1394 Trade
Association
The 1394 Trade Association is a non-profit trade organization.
Its Board of Directors and Chair are volunteers elected
from the membership of the association. The 1394 TA maintains
an office in Southlake, Texas, with paid staff that
execute the programs organized by the 1394 Trade Association
membership.

We strive to provide a good value to our members, and spread
the costs for these services and facilities across our many
members. We also reserve the right to choose which of our
services we provide to non-members to promote IEEE 1394.
