This specification defines a model and command set for audio/video Hard Disk Drive devices over IEEE Std. 1394-1995. The model and command set are compatible with the AV/C Disc Subunit Model and Command Set and rely upon proposed enhancements to that specification currently being developed in the AVWG.
The command set makes use of the Function Control Protocol (FCP) defined by IEC 61883, Consumer audio/video equipment - Digital interface, for the transport of audio/video command requests and responses.
The audio/video devices are implemented as a common unit architecture within IEEE Std. 1394-1995.
