1394 Trade Association Design Guide Now Available In Japanese, with Details on Using FireWire in Consumer, Computer, Industrial, Audio Products

The 1394 Trade Association’s comprehensive FireWire Design Guide, which was developed in 2010 for users and product developers worldwide, is now available in Japanese.

The Design Guide includes details on how to implement FireWire ports on high-level devices such as PCs and on simple devices such as inexpensive consumer electronics products. It includes references to normative specifications and reference designs that can be used as is or, with the careful consideration of the trade-offs, as a starting point for a more optimized design.

"Having the FireWire Design Guide available in Japanese is a real benefit for customers and designers in one of the world’s largest markets for developers of advanced systems that use 1394 technology,” said Dave Thompson of LSI, a 1394 Trade Association board member and chair of the Marketing Work Group. “The chapter in the FireWire Design Guide on late-VG protection is especially important and helpful for designers and manufacturers working with the FireWire standard.”

The 1394 Trade Association’s FireWire Design Guide is available in both Japanese and Chinese.
